[Standing female nude]

This drawing relates to an oil painting from the same period that was exhibited as Nude in American Modern Artists: First Annual Exhibition, January 17–February 27, 1943, at the Riverside Museum, New York (fig. 1). The drawing is spattered with paint and oil, suggesting that it may have been nearby when Rothko painted the canvas.
