Remarks
The still life on the right side of this sheet relates to an untitled canvas of this period (fig. 1). A vase like the one in this drawing appears in a pair of canvases (figs. 2 and 3) and in several other drawings (see Related Works on Paper). The sketch in graphite on the left side of this sheet is upside down in relation to the still life. It appears to depict a female figure, seen from behind and through an open doorway, possibly working at an easel or worktable, a subject familiar in drawings of this period (see Related Works on Paper).
